TSA Announces New $45 Identity Verification Option for Travelers Without Real ID
Starting, February 1, 2026, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will offer travelers a new option if they arrive at the airport without an acceptable form of ID.
If a passenger doesn’t present a valid ID at the security checkpoint, TSA will now refer them to a paid verification service called TSA Confirm.ID.
For a $45 fee, travelers can use the Confirm.ID to verify their identity and continue through security. This verification is valid for a 10-day travel period, which can cover a full trip.
While this new option offers flexibility, TSA strongly encourages travelers to get a REAL-ID-compliant license or ID as soon as possible. REAL ID will make airport screening smoother and avoid any extra fees.
